The CDDSC advised Mr Andy Wong, the organizer of the 2006 Canadian Closed Championships, that one of the judges on the panel he had submitted for approval was not a CDDSC registered adjudicator and therefore could not judge the CCC. The judging panel was not approved. Nevertheless Mr. Wong used the adjudicator to judge the Professional Latin and Standard Closed Championships.

We therefore regret to inform the competitors that the Canadian Closed Championships (CCC) held on November 11-12, 2006 were not held in accordance with CDDSC Rules and Regulations.

The Board has considered the matter bearing in mind that the competitors were not responsible for the Rules not being followed and have taken the following action:

  • The marks of Jane Edgett will be removed.
  • The winners of the competitions are granted the titles of 2006 Canadian

Closed Standard and Latin Champions.

It is now necessary to get the timetable for the CCC back on track. The Canadian Champions for 2007 will be determined from the next Canadian Closed Championships, which will be held in Montreal on February 24, 2007. The winners will represent Canada at the 2007 Worlds Latin in Moscow, Russia on April 21, 2007 and at the 2007 Worlds Standard in Blackpool England, November 18, 2007.
